The work you see on this website is an example of what I do for a living, so if you are looking to hire someone to make your website or design some graphics, feel free to contact Justin at, Justin@the-vug.com for more information on prices and availability.

1. Do you accept commissions for mineral specimen paintings/hex signs/other art?

I do accept painting commissions, but I judge each on a case by case basis. Normal turn-a-round time is 3 to 4 months for mineral specimen paintings, and 1 to 2 months for hex signs/misc. This is due to the large number of projects that I am working on at any given time. So please keep this in mind if you are thinking of giving a painting to that special person as a gift.

Private arrangements to meet at any major American mineral show or selected European mineral shows is my prefered way of setting up commissions for scientific illustrations. Email Justin(at)the-vug.com

2. What are your prices for website design?

It all depends on how much work goes into it, but my website packages start at as low as $500. Most of the sites I’ve built have been no more than $1,500.00. Average price is around $1200.00 to $1500.00 for a complete, stocked, ready to go, website. Normal turn-a-round time is about 2 weeks, but no more than 3 weeks, from the start date. I can design websites for all expirience levels using html, xtml, css, java, and php to create the perfect website for your needs. Even if you have no knowledge of html of any sort, I can design you a website that is simple and easy to use. All functionality can be accessed through simple fill in the blank forms that look like this.

3. Do you have prints of your artwork?

No, At this time I am not offering prints of my artwork.

4. How can I see your artwork in person?

You can view my artwork, by appointment, in my home studio in Los Angeles, California or at the The Uncarved Block Gallery in Sebastopol, California. Sometimes I also showcase my pieces at mineral shows.

5. I love the mineral specimen paintings, but where are the actual minerals?

With the person that owns them.

6. Can I use your images on my website or blog, facebook or other internet page?

Private, non-commercial use of my images is allowed as long as my agent is contacted prior to use. Please send an email to Justin(at)the-vug.com explaining what it is you would like to do with my image. You will then be sent an email explaining your specific terms of use.

Thank-You for your corroporation in this matter.

7. I just want a kick ass banner. What can you do?

I can crank you out a great banner, just like the ones featured here, for a VERY low price. ($35-$100) I can also design a graphic package for your website for as low as $200!

8. I’ve seen other paintings at shows I’ve been to, but they're not on your website. Where are they?

In 2005 I produced 28 scientific illustrations, but as I was just starting out, I didn't think to get slides made of them. DOH! Some of the paintings are being photographed shortly, others went to clients I don’t know at all, some were stolen, others destroyed by accident.
